O.K. , Talvin Singh
Despite many favourable reviews this struck me as old fashioned. It has slapped a
drum'n'bass aesthetic on the old indipop wave that came in the mid 80's. I have heard from
others that earlier Singh is the way to go.The music? It's dance influenced indian pop
music. Mostly quite accessible, but not very challenging or a revolutionary as the music
mags would have one believe |

A Few Small Repairs , Shawn Colvin
Once again Shawn Colvin delivers an album that is musically outstanding. Unlike her
previous album, Fat City, Colvin uses personal lyrics to address her issues. It's familiar
sound adds to the success of the album but songs such as Get Out of This House give it a
touch of rock that does the trick. If you like Ms. Colvin, you'll like artists such as
Sarah McLaughlin, and the Indigo Girls |
